A Thrifting Queen is born...
Thriftiness became a necessity for this writer 3 years ago with the birth of my first child. It became apparent almost immediately that the only job I wanted was "Mommy" and so my husband and I quickly went to work devising a plan and a budget to make it possible for me to be a stay at home mom.
We trimmed all the "fat" from our existing lifestyle ( no more eating out, no trips to Starbucks, scrap the expensive cable tv plan) and tried living on just my husband's salary for 6 months, socking all of my income away in savings to create a "rainy-day fund" for emergencies. Remarkably it worked! I am now CEO and CFO of the family, 24/7 with no vacation time or sick days!
9 months after my son was born, we got pregnant with twin girls (surprise!) and things got a little more interesting. Now in order to stay home and still make one income work for us, I am a thrifting fool! There is no bargain to small, no coupon I can't clip. I refuse to pay full price for anything, even our house was a bargain (more on that later). This here site will give you the skinny on how I stretch a dollar. If you have any comments, tips, or tricks, please share them!
